The Stanley Cup Finals came to Los Angeles for the first time this week. In an interview published by the Los Angeles Downtown News, Roy Weinstein, President of Micronomics, an ERS Group Company, estimated that the event's potential economic impact wold be comparable to the 2011 NBA All-Star Game which was projected to increase spending by visitors and residents on items such as tickets, hotel rooms, parking, clothing, food and drink by $85 million. In addition, Mr. Weinstein expects the heightened local and national media coverage would translate into positive economic impact over a longer term. Mr. Weinstein and Micronomics experts have studied the effect of other such mega events on the Los Angeles economy. Two such studies were published as "Economic Impact of the 2011 NBA All-Star Games on Los Angeles County" and "Economic Impact of the 2010 X Games 16 on Los Angeles County."
